School Profile

The University Science High School (USHS), also known as Central Luzon State University Science High School, is a specialized science high school located within the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) campus in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija, Philippines. It operates under the College of Education at CLSU but is not part of the Philippine Science High School System.

Established by the CLSU Board of Regents through Board Resolution No. 1622 on June 14, 1976, USHS was designed as a premier institution for students pursuing science and technology courses crucial for national development.

In 1978, the school underwent changes under Board Resolution No. 1780, renaming it Agricultural Science High School to align with the demand for curriculum improvements. A year later, the curriculum was further enhanced, strengthening its agricultural focus while maintaining a strong emphasis on science and technology. Since then, student admission has been conducted through a competitive entrance examination, with only 80 first-year students accepted annually.

By 1983, the school returned to its original name, Science High School, to reaffirm its commitment to science and technology education. For over two decades, USHS has played a crucial role in CLSU's College of Education, producing high-quality graduates and contributing to the university’s strong reputation in science and technology education.

Academic Support System

At Central Luzon State University (CLSU), college-based organizations play a vital role in academic support. These organizations are present in every college, organizing programs and events that benefit their members. Many students join these groups to gain knowledge, develop essential skills, and expand their professional networks, helping them excel in their studies and future careers. For University Science High School (USHS), the school system operates under the support and supervision of the College of Education at CLSU, ensuring quality education and structured academic guidance for its students.

To support digital learning, students have access to the DepEd Learning Resource Portal and Open Educational Resources (OERs) such as OpenStax and Coursera. Additionally, online platforms like YouTube provide valuable educational content through channels such as PE Scholar, TED-Ed, and the Olympic Channel, offering lessons on movement techniques, health education, and training programs.

Students are encouraged to explore various books, articles, and online resources, helping them develop digital literacy and adaptability for future challenges. To enhance critical thinking and creativity, teachers often allow students to conduct independent research on topics related to their lessons. This approach helps students deepen their understanding and become more independent learners, rather than relying solely on information from teachers.
